Inside Outside poem

Last week we started to create Inside Outside Poems. Our Ispirsion is a poem called Cross country. An Inside Outside poem Means that There are 4 lines of inside at the top, 4 lines of outside in the middle and 3 more lines of inside at the bottom. This is my poem and a picture of the finished product that has been put in Cloud art and turned into a artwork.

Lake Kaniere Duatholn

Inside, my Heart beats faster,

Inside, I wonder if I can make it to the end,

Inside, nervous Butterflies fly around in my stomach,

Inside, I mutter “you can do this.”

Outside, parents take photos,

Outside, kids come line up,

Outside, volunteers get ready to start the race,

Outside, I feel the rain pounding on my shoulders.

Inside, I realise that I haven’t trained,

Inside, I think I’m going to come last,

Inside, I feel excited.

Have you ever done a Duatholn?

Sea Staind Red, Bullets Hit Heads

When we had Mr A on Wednesday we did some learning about ANZAC.  ANZAC stands for Astralian New Zealand Army Corpse. I learnt that the solders went to Egypt for up to 6 months before they went to Gallipoli. The ships landed at the wrong spot, they landed at a spot with steep cliffs instead of flat sloops. I learnt that there are lots of my family members went to World War 1 and 2. I don’t think I would want to go on to the shore if I was a solder in WW1. I think that we should learn about world wars but some things are kind of disturbing. Today I learnt how to coluorised black and white pictures with AI.

Would you go to war?

How would you feel if you went to war?

Swimming sports

On Monday the 4th of March Kaniere school did swimming sports. I entered for 1 length:  freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, 2 lengths: freestyle and  backstroke. Kokatahi school and us both did it at the same time because both schools needed to do it. I came first in all of my races for my age group. I got in to the districts which was on the 6 of march for all of my races. For both districts and school swimming I was very nervous. In the districts my races where sometime far apart so I had two towels, one for in-between my races and the other was for getting changed. I placed first in 2 lengths freestyle and second in 2 lentghs backstroke and got in the West Coast for 2 lengths backstroke. West Coast swimming was on the 14 of March which is today. I didn’t go to West coast because there it was in Westport so my parents couldn’t take me. Hopefully next time if I make it is in Greymouth so I can go.

Have you ever gone to West Coast before?

Did you do swimming sports when you were young?

I’m a year 5 in Kereru, I can’t belive it I can still remember being in Weka Tena.  The first day at school this year we did Colouring our waka paddle and meeting our teacher for the first time.  In the third week we started our learner maps and passport. One of my friend’s is not in Kereru. I haven’t enjoyed Being in Kereru as much as I have in other years. Week 3 was the first full week at school! This was my first 4 weeks at school.

Summer learning Journey

Today at school I signed up for the Summer learning Journey, We had to answer some queastions on Google forms. Once we had signed up we did a teaser week activitie. We did one about music,we did it on Groove Pizza which is a music app. I really enjoyed making the music on Groove Pizza. My song is called Beatbox.

Do you like the song ?

Have you ever done Summer learning Journey?

Science experiment

Today we did a science experiment about Pressure. First we went outside with a bit of water and a hotwater bottle/tube thing. Then we put the water in the tube and someone stood on the hot water bottle. We got up to four people standing on it and still going up. Basicly we were being lifted by air pressure and gravidy because the tube was being lifted we were being lifted. Then when it went down we went down but the water went up.

Little blue penguins

Today Ruma Kereru and Piwakawaka went to the beach to look for Little Blue Penguin tracks. We got into some groups each with about four people in it. My group found a lot of tracks like Dogs,Cats,Herons and Little Blue Penguins. Once we got to the end we poured some plaster of paris in to the penguin prints and let it set. My groups came out really good, you could see the print clearly! I would like to thank Mrs Locky and all the people that helped with geting us out to see the tracks.

Have you ever seen a penguin before?

Have you ever seen a penguin track?

Writing-Story starter

On  Tuesday we did a writing Story starter about a girl who got a pair of glasses, then when she puts them on she can see something …

We are learning about Discribing things so our goal was to discribe what she sees. There was a word list of intresting words we could use, I used a few of them but not all.The picture was from Poble.

I name my word The Land Of  Flower Cloud, I used Insprashon from Strange word on Disny.

The Land of Flower Cloud

She couldn’t believe her eyes,There standing in front of her was a mysterious land The ground was covered with shimmering pink trees and flowers. An even more mysterious creature sat in front of her It had sparkling black scales, with extraordinary rainbow skin below them.Horns that looked as sharp as daggers protruded from the skull with muscular legs, the tail trashed on the ground making the ground tremble slightly, It was about as tall as an average nine year old and as long as a door. She gasped,It was a magnificent sight.

Do you like the  discripton of the world?

Do you think the discription is good?

How long do you think it took me to write this?

Earthquake experimen-Oobleck

Makeing Oobleck

Today me and my class did And experiment about Oobleck. First we got in four groups of six, Then we got a little cup to put the cornflour and water. Since The corn flour is grounded so much the water can seep through it, which is called liquifaction. The corn flour and water mix was both solide and liquid so when we applyed pressure it was solide and when we did not apply preeser it was liquid. it was hard to push our fingers through the mixter.
